Knox is dedicated to the emotional, physical, social and spiritual wellbeing of every boy. Our aim is for each boy to be known and to feel connected to Knox in general and to particular staff members. We practice standards, guidelines and procedures that are involved in maintaining the welfare and discipline of Knox students through our Pastoral Care program.
Our objectives are to encourage the students of Knox to be guided by their rights and responsibilities and encouraged by positive affirmation and rewards. We seek to raise their level of involvement and performance by self evaluation and reporting.
We reduce poor behaviour with fair and firm consequences and, if poor behaviour persists, we gain assistance from the school's welfare and counselling resources, in partnership with parents. We enjoy a cooperative learning environment.
Helping boys through difficulties and working with their parents to monitor progress is the foundation for our Pastoral Care program. It has all the structures in place – a safety net consisting of Tutors, Year Masters, counsellors and the boys themselves who act as peer support leaders and mentors.
For Knox staff, Pastoral Care responsibilities means showing a willingness to be an adult in whom boys can depend on for support, someone who will listen, advise, encourage and help. |
