Many boys travel with the School as part of their studies in languages, music, art or history with details of these tours published in The Knoxonian. An example of tours include:
- Music tours - a music tour departs every two years.
- Japan - run in conjunction with Social Education and Languages Departments, the tour took in the ancient capitals of Japan - Kyoto, Nara, Hakone, Hiroshima and Tokyo - and exposed the boys to aspects of Japanese language, culture, religion and commerce.
- Africa - visit to the wildlife conservation parks in Africa and Namibia.
- European History Tour - of particular interest to students who are taking History as an elective, accelerating in History or studying it (Ancient or Modern) for the HSC. The tour typically takes in England, France, Italy and Turkey/Greece and offers students a unique opportunity to absorb the delights of ancient monuments, WWI battlefields, historic sites, vibrant cities and magnificent spectacles.
Up to three boys can attend the International Youth Leadership Conference in Washington in the mid-year School vacation.
Sporting tours are also common. Knox cricketers usually visit England or South Africa, basketball players tour locally or overseas to the USA or Canada and rugby players, either New Zealand or South Africa.
