Senior : School Management : School Council

The School Council members include Rob Wannan as Chairman, Peter Roach as Deputy Chairman, and Sue Conde as Secretary. The Headmaster and Business Manager attend all School Council meetings and committees. The Council has several specialist sub-committees including Finance and Audit, Property and Boarding.

Finance and Audit Committee
This committee assists the Council to fulfil its responsibilities in relation to the financial and risk management policies of the School, reporting on:

  • Financial management and financial performance.
  • Financial reporting, including budgeting.
  • Risk assessment and the systems of internal and prudential control including legal compliance, workplace health and safety, environmental and insurance.
  • The relationship between the Council and the School's internal accounting and financial officers and the Council and the external auditors.
  • The quality of the audits conducted by the School's external auditor.

The Boarding Committee
Boarding plays a key role in providing Knox with a culturally diverse student population and the Council has a strong commitment to providing boarding for up to 140 boys from Years 7 to 12. The Committee's mission is to ensure boarding at Knox is carefully managed and monitored and that our boarders enjoy good facilities, as well as well-trained and professional boarding, Housemasters and support services. The committee attends regional gatherings to help foster the Knox Community, meets regularly with the boarder parents and addresses issues that may arise. The Committee is developing boarding within the Knox Master Plan with a fresh approach that meets the diverse needs of country, city and international boarders in a structured, home-like boarding environment.

The Property Committee
In total, Knox and its facilities - including playing grounds - cover more than 17 hectares. The Property Committee is responsible for managing and maintaining this important asset as well as overseeing the development and implementation of improvements such as the implementation of Knox's 10-year Master Plan. The committee also provides guidance on specific major projects as well as on minor works and facilities management and makes recommendations on other property matters to the School Council.
