Senior : Nuts and Bolts : Lost Property
Property Care Reminder Common sense must prevail regarding where a student leaves expensive and valuable property during the School day:
- DON'T leave calculators, watches etc. lying on top of an unattended open bag.
- DON'T leave wallets, watches etc. in the pockets of blazers hanging unattended on a coat hook.
- DON'T leave valuables of any sort in the PE change rooms.
- DON'T leave musical instruments about the School, day or night.
- All property must be named and clearly labelled - unlabelled property is donated to charity. Clothes are best marked on the collar inside with initial, name and also Year.
- Apart from the usual method of the name tag on the collar it will help the individual if he marks his property in some way only he can identify (eg. inside the blazer sleeve, under a shoe's tongue).
- All valuables such as laptops and mobile phones MUST be kept securely locked away in lockers.
- VALUABLES MUST NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED.
Lost Property Office The Lost Property room is located in the small room under the stairs opposite the GDMs, behind the urgent noticeboard and is managed by the GAP students. Hours of opening are shown on the door to the office, Monday-Friday 10.25-10.45am during recess. Yearmaster’s receive the list of names of the boys who have lost property in the office and the list is also being posted on the Urgent Noticeboard for the convenience of the boys.
When a student loses an item he should search the entire School grounds, including:
- Retracing footsteps from where the item was last and have a good look in the nearby area.
- Checking lost property cages in the PE Centre and behind the urgent noticeboard, where unnamed items are put until cleared periodically for charity.
- Checking lists of lost property on Year Noticeboards and the list at the Lost Property room.
- Checking the Lost Property Office.
Any named item found around the School will be kept in Lost Property. Weekly lists of property (by Year) are displayed on noticeboards. Listed weekly, property will be available for collection for only six School weeks, after which the property is disposed of either to the Knox Shop or to charity.
Please note all lost Laptop computers go to the IT department and are reported there as well.
Please be aware the Student Administration Officers are not responsible for lost property.
Permission to be out of uniform If you lose an item of clothing you would normally wear to school each day (a boater, a blazer), report to your General Duties Masters and obtain an Out of Uniform slip, which is to be carried until the item is found or replaced.
