Wednesday 1 April, 10.25am: After careful consideration the decision has been made to withdraw all the boys from the Year 7 camp today. The boys will be withdrawn from both sites, Crosslands and Fitzroy Falls. At this stage we are planning for the buses to arrive back at Knox between 3:30 and 4:00pm. However timing will be contingent on the traffic conditions. The boys are comfortable and remain in good spirits despite the inclement conditions. Regular updates will be placed up on the website as information comes to hand.

Wednesday 1 April, 8.52am: The overnight weather at the two campsites has been very different. The safety and well-being of the boys is of paramount importance and the weather is being closely monitored at both sites. The rain at Crosslands has been consistent and at times reasonably heavy. Consequently the boys will be removed from the field back to the Hall this morning and the planned program modified in line with the conditions. Any boys who have wet clothing will have their clothing dried by the Southbound staff in dryers throughout the day. The forecast indicates some easing of conditions but given the current rainfall under cover accommodation has been arranged for the boys for tonight if required. Fitzroy Falls has not experienced the some level of rainfall and the program is currently continuing as planned. The tent check has indicated that all tents are dry. All boys have dry clothing and are being brought back into the main campsite in groups to ensure that they are and well before embarking on their next activity. All boys remain positive and in good spirits.

All programs can and will be amended in response to changing weather conditions. Please refer to the website throughout the day for regular updates.

Tuesday 31 March, 7:36pm: It was a good day at camp at both sites today despite the steady rain. All boys are remaining positive and rising to the challenges presented by the high ropes courses, raft building, rope swings, tree climbs, bushwalking, canoeing etc. Tents have remained reasonably dry with any wet gear being dried out in the Hall at Fitzroy Falls. The boys at Crosslands are keeping all dry clothes secure in plastic bags in the centre of their tents. The boys are learning how best to manage their equipment in wet conditions and gaining valuable experience of the outdoors in the lead up to the year 8 and year 9 cadet camp.  A close eye is being kept on the conditions with both sites having significant covered areas in their respective halls, meeting rooms and bunkrooms available as needed. All boys have eaten well throughout the day, with the boys at the base camp at Fitzroy Falls enjoying warm soup around a large fire with the boys at Crosslands making the most of the healthy salad and meat rolls. A giant size game of Pictionary using a soccer ball sized dice is the highlight of the evening activities at Fitzroy Falls. Current temperatures remain at reasonable levels and this combined with relatively little wind is keeping conditions quite manageable. Showers are forecast to continue overnight but hopefully easing in the day ahead.

Monday 30 March, 10:08pm: The Year 7 camp has started well at both Fitzroy Falls and Crosslands. At both sites the boys have settled into the routine of camp quickly.  The boys at Fitzroy Falls broke off into two groups, one group stayed at the conference centre and the others down by the river under well erected tents. At Crosslands the boys were also broken into 2 groups with one group paddling up river for the overnight camp whilst those at the conference centre being challenged by the activities of the high and low ropes courses. The menu at Fitzroy Falls consisted of Chicken Teriyaki and Spaghetti Bolognaise all cooked by the boys themselves. Dinner at Crosslands was equally good with boys also learning about the necessity to ensure that all items are well washed up in readiness for the next meal. The evening games provide an opportunity to burn off excess energy and spend time having fun with mates. The evening promises to be mild with the possibility of some showers continuing into Tuesday. A good start to the week.
