For the fifth year, Knox is offering the exciting opportunity for Years 10 and 11 boys to experience the Tall Ships Sailing Expedition in partnership with The Sail Training Association of Queensland Inc. This expedition is one of life's ultimate adventures in which students work as a modern team in a setting from a bygone era.  But don't be mislead - the very latest in safety, navigation and communication equipment is utilised.  The boys will board at 9.00am on Monday 4 January and undertake basic training occurs within the waters of Broken Bay, together with watch team allocation.  They will travel north to Broughton Island and, if time permits, Port Stephens, returning to Sydney Harbour on Friday 8 January at 4.00pm. sthpassage2.jpg

The voyage is on The South Passage, a 100-foot, gaff-rigged schooner (launched 1993) and crewed by a highly experienced Captain, sailing master, three watch chiefs and a cook. There will also be two members of staff from Knox. The boys will be split into three watches, which will be responsible for the ship during their duty slot. The boys will not be passengers and will be expected to perform all sailing tasks and duties on this completely non-automated vessel.
