Senior : Sport : Introduction
|
Sport has a significant history of being part of the life at Knox Grammar School. The School’s tradition as a highly competitive sports school and one that embraces good sportsmanship has created a reputable standing and welcomed ever increasing changes over the years.
The Knox Sports Academy (KSA) was established in 2005 to encompass the sports programs with the aim to further manage, develop and promote all facets of sport for students in Kindergarten to Year 12. The highest standards in presentation and behaviour are maintained by the sports staff in all sporting endeavours. Comprehensive and sequenced programs of excellence and enrichment are offered across a wide range of sports allowing all boys a chance to choose an activity providing for their needs regardless of their age and ability. KSA also aims to develop every boy to his potential whether defining their basic skills or reaching optimum achievements up to National level.
Sport and daily physical activity play a significant part in the life of every Knox boy. Involvement in competitive sport commences in Year 3 at the Preparatory School and remains an integral part throughout the Senior School. Boys learn about teamwork and following rules of the game, abiding by the referee’s decision, commitment to a team or individual play, experiencing winning and losing whereby celebrating success or supporting teammates in loss.
The Knox school spirit is enhanced through the playing of sport, as is the range of friendships following the core values of the Knox mission statement of Integrity, Wisdom, Compassion and Faith. It is intended that all boys should leave Knox with, not only a good academic education but the fundamentals of fair play and good sportsmanship.
