Senior : Uniform : Appearance

It is the boys' responsibility to be clean and tidy, clean-shaven, to have their hair cut according to Knox requirements below and to be correctly dressed, including shirt tucked-in at all times and tie neatly tied into the collar.  Only a plain white t-shirt or singlet can be worn under the shirt.  No jewellery is to be worn.  Unclean or inappropriate sporting gear is not allowed.

Hair Hair must not be over the collar, ears or eyebrows, nor overly full at the back or front.  It must be cut to the shape of the neck and not in a "fashion" style.  An all-over short haircut is acceptable to a minimum No.4 cut.  Dyeing of hair is not permitted, nor is any kind of hair gel or hair colour allowed under any circumstances.
Shoes Shoes must be polished. Yellow or other coloured stitching on school shoes is not permitted. If school shoes cannot be worn for medical reasons, a parental note must be carried.
At gate inspections, shoe-cleaning gear will be available for boys to add shine to their shoes.  If shoes are considered to be in a bad state, clearly not having been polished for several days, then a school detention will be awarded.
Socks Khaki knee high socks are worn in summer and should be up at all times, using garters if necessary. In winter, socks must be plain grey or black.
Belt The belt must be black with a simple buckle. Brown belts and buckles with insignia are not acceptable.
Tie Black and blue Knox ties must be worn at all times during the School day, unless instructed by a staff member (eg. in Industrial Arts). The only other ties acceptable are those worn by Year 12. CAS and sports ties may be worn on CAS sporting occasions and Saturdays.
Boaters Boaters are to be worn parallel to the ground and must be kept in a good state or repair. If the boater is bent, buckled, torn or out of shape, the student risks a School detention.  At gate inspections, if the boater is considered fixable, a warning will be issued.  A boater would be considered unfixable if the rim is severely bent and/or the crown buckled or torn.  Should two warnings be issued in a semester, the student will be given a School detention.
Boaters are not required for evening functions.
School Cap The Knox sports cap can be worn in the school grounds and for Saturday sport.  No other caps are to be worn.
