Great Hall Campaign : Master Plan - Stage 2

A New Great Hall and Aquatic Centre                              

In the Knox tradition of being a progressive school The Great Hall is an exciting concept.  For many years now Knox has needed a hall capable of housing the whole school in one place – the Great Hall will provide that venue.

The Great Hall is to be located alongside the Lawson Centre and a new Aquatic Centre incorporating a 50 metre swimming pool and a new weights room will be sited adjacent the Great Hall on the Woodville Avenue frontage as illustrated by the dark brown buildings on the Knox campus map below.

The multi-functional nature of the Great Hall will be highly beneficial for the school, as illustrated by the following proposed uses:

a) An Assembly Hall that will seat up to 2,500 people
b) A performance centre for major productions
c) An appropriate venue in which to hold examinations
d) Indoor basketball and other sports/PE programs
e) A large function centre to host major school community events.

As part of this development it is proposed to completely upgrade the Woodville Avenue entrance and access to the School campus will be through the new 'great gates'. There will be 60-80 parking spaces beneath the Great Hall.
