Christopher Moore, ACO Principal Viola; Jett van der Wallen; and ACO Principal Cello, Timo-Veikko Valve
This year I was very fortunate to be selected to play cello with the ACO in a schools' workshop at the ACO Studio near the Opera House, which was held on Wednesday, 25 May. (The ACO is the Australian Chamber Orchestra, led by Richard Tognetti) I was one of 30 musicians from Sydney to join together with ACO players working on 2 string pieces – Mozart’s 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' and Benjamin Britten’s 'Simple Symphony'. I sat next to the ACO’s Principal cellist – Timo-Veikko Valve, who was playing a Guarneri 1729 cello worth approximately AUD $1 million!! It sounded amazing. I learnt heaps from Timo and the other ACO musicians, as well as meeting other talented players from many different schools. It was a great day.
