Baseball - Knox Stealers

24-Oct-2011

Baseball at Knox! What a riveting game! The boys keep perfecting their skills each week – considering the majority of them have not played baseball before, the Knox spirit is alive and hitting on the baseball diamond!

A report of this game follows. In the top of the first inning, the Tigers scored a run then Knox came in to bat and got away to a good lead scoring 3 runs. The Tigers fought back in the 2nd inning bringing in two runs and levelling the score at 3-3. Chris Layman did a great job pitching the first two innings, holding the Tigers to 3 runs before he reached his maximum pitch count. Jaidyn Leong then took over and pitched very well but the Tigers were hungry for a win! In the top of the third the Tigers scored 6 runs, taking a huge lead 9-3 and everyone thought the game was lost – but that indomitable Knox spirit shone through. Zac Partridge drove an awesome hit to right field. The boys rallied, scoring 5 runs and then with seconds left in the game the final run was scored by Pat Plenge, finishing the game at a 9-9 draw, with runners in scoring positions. A spine-tingling finish!
