Hornsby swim club makes a splash at Knox pool

10-Oct-2011

Mitchell Trenaman (14), Ashley Edmonds (23, club secretary) and Sammie Trenaman (16) are members of Hornsby Swim club, which has found a new home at Knox for their weekly meet, since the Hornsby pool closed last year.

With the new Hornsby Aquatic Centre not expected to be finished until 2014, the Hornsby Swim Club has found a new home at Knox Grammar School.

The club, which meets every Friday, used the pool at Loreto Normanhurst last season, but will now use the new aquatic complex at Knox.

Club president Michael Trenaman said: “We were grateful for the hospitality of Loreto and the Aquaburn Club for allowing us the use of the Loreto pool.

“Now we’re really looking forward to resuming club nights every Friday in a 50m pool. We’ll be commencing this Friday and run through to next March.”

Mr Trenaman said the club was keen to welcome old and new members for the upcoming season.

“Knox is intent on their facility making a contribution to the community and we’re more than happy to be part of that,” he said.

“We cater for swimmers of all ages, abilities and fitness levels and run a variety of events from 25m to 200m plus handicap relays.”
