Photovoltaic cells on the roof of the Knox Great Hall.
Photovoltaic cells are being used to harness the power of the sun and reduce energy costs for the Great Hall, K-2 Centre and the Paterson Centre.
The Great Hall has an 87.5kWh system and the K-2 has a 30kWh system, which can provide about a third of the buildings’ energy use, dependent on the weather conditions.
In April alone, the Great Hall solar system generated more than 7,000 kWh. Since the Senior School system was installed in March, it has captured enough energy to operate a TV for more than eight years.
