Tickets are now on sale for the Knox musical Bye Bye Birdie.
A loving send-up of small-town America, teenagers, and rock’n’roll, Bye Bye Birdie is one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. As a satire, it gives an insight into the everyday life of the 1950s and 60s.
The story was inspired by the phenomenon of popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957.
Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses all-American girl, Kim McAfee, for a very public farewell kiss.
This Knox Academy of Performing Arts production features a cast of 90, an orchestra of 30 and a student technical crew of 10.
The cast is comprised of students from Knox Grammar School, as well as students from Abbotsleigh, Barker, Cheltenham Girls High School, Loreto Normanhurst, Mercy College, Mount Saint Benedict College, Northern Beaches Christian School, Pymble Ladies' College, Ravenswood School for Girls and Roseville College.
