28-Jan-2015

A total of 21 Knox boys competed at 2015 NSW Age Championships at Sydney Olympic Park from 19-24 January.

  • Winning five individual gold medals, Leon Macalister (Year 9) was a busy boy. Leon won 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m and 400m freestyle and the 200m Medley.
  • Vincent Dai (Year 12) won gold medals in both the 50m and 100m freestyle, and was narrowly beaten in the 200m freestyle and 100m fly, where he won two silver medals
  • Justin Lee (Year 8) won 200m butterfly, was second in the 100m butterfly and was third in the 100m breaststroke too. Justin qualified for seven individual finals.
  • Andrew Hemsworth (Year 11) had a busy week too, managing to make the finals in seven events. Andrew won silver in 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly, with bronze in the 200m breaststroke and 400m Medley
  • Definitely the highlight of the week was the 13-14 year boys freestyle relay team of Justin Lee (Knox student), Jack Ryan (Knox Pymble Swim Club), Ben Shariat (Knox student) and Kevin Zhang (Knox student) winning the gold medal. Their winning time of 1:40.28 is a new Australian Record.
