Knox teacher sets out on 6,000km ride for charity

Knox economics teacher Mr Phil Harmer is riding 6,000km across the United States to fundraise for women and children in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mr Harmer and friend Lyall Pogue have departed from Yorktown, Virginia, on the east coast, and are planning to arrive in Astoria, Oregon, on the west coast, on 14 July.

“This is the first time we have done this type of distance,” Mr Harmer said.

“To see America from a pushbike is to really see America, he said.
