Knox teachers hit the trail to support the Fred Hollows Foundation

14-Feb-2013

Three Knox teachers will tackle the 50 kilometre overnight Coastrek 2013 from Balmoral to Coogee in aid of the Fred Hollows Foundation.

English teacher Mr Neil Smith, Maths teacher Ms Liz Ruffe and Learning Support teacher Ms Dale Thompson will tackle the course on 1 March with the team name ‘Hard Knox’.

“We have been training since November and have spent many hot weekends trekking through the bush on the outskirts of Sydney,” said Dale. “Our aim is to complete the trek with all members feeling well, but a time under 10 hours would be welcome.”

The team is hoping to raise $1,600 for eye surgery for some of the poorest teams in the world.
