Swimmers bag swag of medals at NSW Champs

Swimmers from Knox have returned from last week’s NSW Swimming Championships with a swag of excellent results, including with 23 medals.

The championships, held at Sydney Olympic Park, involved more than 1,200 competitors.

Thirty-eight Knox students participated in the championships, with Year 10 student Vincent Dai taking home three gold medals (50m and 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly) and one silver medal (200m individual medley).

Other gold medal winners included Tom Woodcock (Year 8, 200m breaststroke), Sam Ritchens (Year 9, 50m freestyle) and Paul Van Westing (Year 11, 50m freestyle).

“With the heats in the morning and the finals at the night, it was a tough week of racing made even more difficult by the mid-40 degree temperatures,” said the Knox Head Coach, Steve Goodier.

“However we had some great results and our swimmers are in great form ahead of the Australian Age Nationals in Adelaide in April,” he said.
