On Saturday, 23 July, five of our Knox vocalists participated in an afternoon concert at Hornsby Uniting Church. With the aim of providing additional performance opportunities for senior vocal students ' Youthful Voices in Concert' featured HSC students from Knox Grammar School and several local schools.
David Taylor, Year 8, performed first, confidently accompanying himself on guitar. Our Year 11 boys, Jonathan Cho and Blake Condon performed comic music theatre pieces which were accompanied by PLC girls. Needless to say the boys were extremely well received by the audience.
Jordan Forster, Year 11, was the Knox 'piano man’, playing and singing a sensitive love song, whilst Sam Duncan and Gavin Brown of Year 12, warmed up with their well-rehearsed duet, ‘Me and My Shadow’. Gavin and Sam then concluded the concert with outstanding performances of their HSC pieces.
In addition, the boys performed ‘Seasons of Love’ with students from Barker College, Northern Beaches Christian School, PLC, Hornsby Girls School, Loreto and Abbotsleigh. With rehearsal’s taking place over two consecutive weekends, the Hornsby Advocate proudly supported the event with the advertising.
The 130+ patrons were indeed ‘blown away’ by the professionalism and confidence of the performers. Here are but some the comments:
‘This is just like an episode of Australia's got Talent.’ and ‘That was the best thing I've ever seen!’
The performers raised over a thousand dollars which will go towards funding education in Rwanda.
Well done boys, I'm very proud of you! Karen Bruce, Vocal Teacher-KAPA
