Prospective : About Knox : Welcome
 |
|
Knox Grammar School was opened by the Presbyterian Church on Sydney’s North Shore in 1924 in the tradition of John Knox, the 16th century Scottish reformer, who planned a network of schools in every church parish. Since then Knox has grown to become one of Australia’s leading Uniting Church boys’ school’s.
Knox Grammar accepts dayboys and boarders from a wide range of backgrounds from around Australia and overseas, offering each diverse opportunities to find and develop their talents.
Knox aims for every boy to achieve their maximum academic potential whether through our da Vinci program for gifted students, or in the mainstream classes. Students are also encouraged to excel on the sports field, in cultural and other co-curricular activities and to be challenged by spiritual and social justice programs. It is through all these that Knox boys achieve development of personal character.
The School Community - Connecting
An education at Knox Grammar School means becoming part of a larger community which involves you in a partnership with the School, the School staff, the School community and your family. This partnership operates on a number of levels.
On the individual level we believe that successful schooling only occurs when parents, the School, School staff and the student are all working towards the same goals. We value your support and appreciate your input and by working together your son will get the most out of his educational experience at Knox. |

| Knox is also a community where relationships of a high quality form a bond of great importance beyond the family grouping. We encourage all parents to participate in the Knox Parents’ Association (KPA) and/or the Knox Mothers’ Group, both of which aim to maintain and foster the goodwill and interest of parents and friends of the School and to support and assist the School in a practical and financial manner. Annual events supported by these groups include - Knox At Home”, Gala Day and Garden Day.
All Knox boarder parents are also automatically members of the Knox Boarder Parents Association (BPA). The BPA meets once per term to discuss matters relevant to boarding. The Association has two central aims; to promote and support a friendship network for boarder parents and to engage in activities to develop and promote boarding at Knox.
Past students of Knox, known as "Old Boys", form a vital sector of the Knox Community. Their group, the Old Knox Grammarians' Association (OKGA) is one of the largest existing ex-students groups in Australia. The OKGA aims to maintain contact and encourage networking among our Old Boys and to promote and foster the welfare of the School through annual prizes and the support of various school cultural and sporting groups. Regular - post home game” gatherings for all Old Boys, reunions and dinners are all part of the OKGA activities.
All of these groups play an important role in the life of the school. They provide the opportunity for many memorable experiences and interaction and communication between different aspects of the - Knox Community”.
