The boarders are the soul of Knox because they live within the School grounds and set high standards in all fields of endeavour. Boarding at Knox is available from Years 7-12 for up to 130 boys and although the largest intake of boys into boarding is in Year 7, boarders join in all years. Traditionally, our boarders have come from country properties but today the background of our boarding community is genuinely mixed - boys come from country properties and towns, surrounding suburbs and overseas.
Boarders participate in the School's Inter-House competitions on a vertical basis. This provides opportunities for them to interact across the Year groups, facilitating personal development in team situations. It also provides an ideal environment for peer-tutor support and for individual qualities of leadership to emerge.
Aims
- To ensure boarding is a complementary and valuable addition to the home experience.
- To provide a secure, safe and caring environment, supervised by adults, in which boys will grow and develop academically, socially, physically, morally, spiritually and emotionally.
- To provide a community life in which boys will not only become independent and self-sufficient but also be responsible citizens who live harmoniously with and care for one another.
- To foster the development of self-discipline and encourage boys to accept responsibility for their actions.
- To have a transparent boarding environment in which parents are encouraged to visit as often as they wish.
- To ensure that communication between boys, parents and staff is paramount.

 | Academic Results Knox boarding prides itself on its reputation for academic excellence - a direct result of all Years 7-11 students doing prep in a central room where an adult is present to supervise and assist at all times. Each student has his own desk space with internet access. In Year 12, students are more mature and motivated and do prep in their own rooms.
