Prospective : Boarding : A Home at School
A Home at School
Boarding at Knox, flyer.
Boarding at Knox is available from Years 7 to 12. Although the largest intake of boys into boarding is in Year 7, boarders join in all years through to Year 12. The School offers boarding for up to 130 boys.
One of the great attractions of boarding at Knox is the boys’ ability to access the School’s high-quality programs while broadening their social interactions.
Traditionally, our boarders have come from country properties and overseas but today the background of our boarding community is genuinely mixed – boys come from country properties and towns, surrounding suburbs and overseas.
As in a family, the safety of our boarders is a priority. The boys will make enduring friendships in a safe and secure environment. Boarders at Knox are accommodated in separate on-campus houses according to their Year groups. Years 7 to 11 boarders are accommodated in shared rooms and move to individual rooms in Year 12.
A live-in House Master and his wife work as a team to oversee supervision and pastoral care in each of the boarding houses. The day-to-day management of boys is carried out by resident adult staff with tutors offering additional assistance during supervised homework and study times in the evening.
There is an on-site clinic, a quality, balanced diet provided by professional caterers and additional access out of hours to the school’s facilities. At Knox Grammar School your son has a home away from home where he is treated as an individual and encouraged to belong.

Uniform Click here for details of what clothing and other items boarders should bring to School.
Casual Wear Boarders are permitted to wear casual clothes within the School grounds during the weekday evenings and at weekends but are required to wear shirts with collars when wearing casual clothes to a meal.
ALL ARTICLES OF CLOTHING MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED with the student's name and with a large "KGS" in Cash's woven nametapes (eg. D.A.W. SMITH, KGS.). Cash's tapes, can be ordered from the Knox Shop during term or are available directly from Cash's website at www.nametapes.com.au.
All tennis racquets, school bags, sports equipment etc. must also have the student's name clearly printed on them. Marking ink may be used on shoes.
Laundry The School laundry washes boarders' School and Cadet uniforms and sports clothes but not casual wear, with exception for the young boarders in Gilmore House. The responsibility for laundering his own casual clothes is considered an important part of each boarder's learning experience.
