Boarder Parents' Association
All Knox boarder parents are automatically members of the Knox Boarder Parents' Association. The BPA meets once a term to build relations between boarder parents and to help promote boarding within Knox and wider regional communities. Please see the "Contact Us" section for details.
Boarder Support Program
All new boarders at Knox are invited to join the Boarder Support Scheme, bringing together new boarder families with an existing Knox family to help in the induction and assimilation of new boarders and their parents into the Knox community. More information is available through the Community Relations Office on (02) 9487 0449.
Boarders' Chapel
All boarders attend a special boarders' Chapel service every Wednesday evening, commencing at 6.30pm. Boarder parents are encouraged to attend this service. |
The School Clinic
The Clinic is staffed with qualified sisters 24 hours a day. They are responsible for the care and medical well being of all boarders and for organising all medical and dental appointments. Any boarder who is ill beyond a small cold or influenza will have his illness immediately referred to his parents.
Miscellaneous Purchases
- The Knox Shop will service all uniform needs, both new and second hand as well as ordering nametags.
- The School tuckshop carries a limited range of toiletries.
- Medical purchases should be arranged through the School Hospital.
- Stationery needs can be obtained from the local shops.
- Textbooks can be pre-ordered via the book lists on the Knox website and are delivered to boarding houses in time for school.
- Other requisites can be obtained when on local leave.
Travel Bookings
All School holiday travel bookings on the Free Schools' Countrylink service are arranged through the Housemasters who hand the relevant forms to the boarders for completion. All other travel arrangements should be made by the boy's parents.
Money
Students are encouraged to carry as little money as possible. Years 7 to 9 students have an in-House pocket money account, recommended at $30 to $50 per term and operated by the Housemaster. Years 10 to 12 are considered mature enough to operate their own accounts with the local banks.
Music
Many boarders receive music lessons and music practice rooms are provided in the Music Centre for individual use after School and at weekends.
