Prospective : Curriculum

At Knox we aim for all boys to realise their full academic potential. While academic standards across the school are high, we offer a wide range of subjects to cater for different needs and interests from Kindergarten to Year 10. Our Years 11 and 12 curriculum tends to focus more on the academic subjects that lead towards tertiary entry.

The School believes that for boys entering the work force of the 21st Century they must have been exposed to the technology of our age. We therefore introduce all boys to learning enhanced through the use of laptop computers from the start of Year 5.

Knox students achieve outstanding results in all areas of academic endeavour including the Higher School Certificate, School Certificate and Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 National Literacy and Numeracy Assessment with our average students achieving well above the national average.

In the School Certificate external examinations, four to five times the number of our Year 10 students score in the top Band (Band 6) for each subject in comparison to the rest of the State.

The School’s Higher School Certificate results are most impressive with at least 5% of our Year 12 students regularly achieving a UAI of 99+, placing them in the top 1% of Year 12 students in the State. More than 30% receive a UAI of 90 or higher, placing them in the top 10% of Year 12 students in the State. Half of the Year 12s achieve a UAI of 85 or higher. Most of Knox Year 12 students go on to study at university with the majority gaining entry to their first choice university degree.

More detailed information about our curriculum can be found on the Curriculum Overview webpage, see the blue navigation bar at left.
