Prospective : Parents' Association : Overview
The words Knox community appears often to bring together the many and diverse contributors to Knox, without whose efforts the School would be a lesser place. The community contributes not only to the physical well being of the School, it helps create the special sense of spirit and belonging pervading at Knox. In this section, you will find background information on the main associations active within the Knox community, led by the Knox Parents' Association (KPA).
The KPA provides many opportunities for all Knox parents to become involved with their son's school. It is the umbrella organisation for parent activities and provides support to the many special interest groups throughout the School community. Every parent is automatically a member of the KPA and encouraged to take part in its many activities. It's main activities include:
- The holding of regular meetings
- Arranging forums on topical issues
- Friend-raising and fundraising.
Meetings are held throughout the year and are well publicised in advance in the term calendars and The Knoxonian and Prepside online. The Headmaster, the Heads of the Prep and Senior Schools and a School Council representative attend and address KPA meetings and all are happy to take questions from the floor. Representatives from key support groups, including the KPA Senior Social Committee (KPA SSC), the KPA Prep Social Committee (KPA PSC), the Boarder Parents' Association (BPA) and other sporting and cultural groups also attend these meetings and provide updates on their activities.

The continued success of the KPA in terms of both friend-raising and fundraising depends on the support of Knox parents. Your support is especially valued on Gala Day, which is a major KPA initiative involving the whole School community and the great Knox tradition of Garden Day, organised by the KPA Senior Social Committee. All the proceeds from these two days and any other KPA fundraising events are used to purchase gifts for the School to enhance the experience of the boys at Knox.
Major KPA friend-raisers include Knox At Home, the Knox Country Getaway, Fathers' Luncheons and the regular Year morning teas and suppers, meetings and luncheons, organised by the two social committees. All events are well publicised in The Knoxonian and Prepside online so do sign up to get your weekly email reminder. |

| A warm welcome is extended to all parents who would like to become involved in the School community to come along to a KPA meeting, see where you would like to become involved, and join in the fun. We urge parents at the beginning of each school year to note the dates in the calendar of event and mark them in the family diary.
Another activity of the KPA is to provide a delegate to the NSW Parents' Council (which, in turn, is a member of the Australian Parents' Council) of which Knox is an affiliate. The primary activity of both councils is to represent the views and interests of non-government Schools on matters of funding, policy and curriculum. Visit their website at http://www.parentscouncil.nsw.edu.au/ for more information.
The list of current KPA office bearers is available via the menu bar at the left.
