Prospective : Parents' Association : Cultural Association
The Knox Cultural Association (KCA) was formed in 1983 to assist in the development and presentation of the arts at Knox. It comprises parents of current students, from whom are elected a Secretary and a Treasurer. Charles Hambling is Chairman and Brian Buggy serves as Vice Chairman.
KCA has managed the finances and logistics of all overseas and Australian tours by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Knox Abbotsleigh Youth Orchestra.
For the past 20 years, on a regular basis each School term, volunteers from KCA have staged extremely popular Black and Blue dance parties in the John Williams Hall which attract 1,500 young people from all over Sydney. Funds raised are used to purchase materials to support and extend the education of those involved in music at Knox.
The Knox Cultural Association is committed to supporting music students at Knox. The KCA will offer a number of Music Grants each year to cover the cost of music tuition. The grants are specifically targeting current music students who are highly competent in an instrument already but who would be interested in learning an additional instrument determined by the need the school has in its premier groups.
The music department will be responsible for the identification of the needs, the selection of students and the administration of the grants in conjunction with the Knox Cultural Association. For more information, click here.
