Prospective : Parents' Association : Parents' Groups
Parents' groups operate within both the Prep and Senior Schools and are responsible for organising various social events throughout the year. Each campus has it's own Social Committee, which in turn coordinates the committee for each Year group. Contact details for all office bearers below are published in each new school year's first edition of The Knoxonian or can be obtained from Community Relations and Events Manager, Mrs Julie Lines on (02) 9487 0449.
Senior Social Committee (formerly the Senior School Mothers' Group) The Senior Social Committee is part of the Knox Parents' Association (KPA) with the role of fostering friendship and enhancing the spirit of care and support within the Knox community. The group conducts meetings once a term, each preceded by a Chapel service. The Committee is composed of the executive and general committees, which each meet twice a term. There are also sub-committees for special events such as the Year 12 dinner, social functions outside school, Garden Day and Gala Day. The Executive coordinates all the activities for the Senior School parents and each member of the Executive is responsible to the President. Year representatives take charge of their respective years, organise functions and liaise with the Executive regarding other broader activities. The President and Secretary report to the KPA at its regular meetings.
The SSC encourages participation from the approximately 1,300 mothers in the following activities:
- Year functions, which may take the form of morning tea, lunch or supper, as well as one or two daytime and/or evening social functions each year.
- Craft days.
- Special functions such as visits to the art gallery, talks by invited speakers.
- Supplying manpower to the School canteen and the Knox Shop, at both the Prep and Senior Schools.
- Catering for sporting fixtures including the rugby and football tuckshops.
- Organise the musical instrument pool.
- Sale of crested goods.
- Prayers and goodwill at Christian fellowship.
- Fun and profit at the annual Knox Garden Day each September.
- The casserole committee provides casseroles to Knox families suffering from illness or who are unable to cope due to a family crisis. The committee is fulfilling a very significant role in providing care, sustenance and support to Knox families during times of need.
