I hope that those involved in Tours and camps enjoyed them and were able to improve their skills. With Sport Training having resumed on Tuesday 6th the KSA is now back in full swing and this Saturday sees the last of the Trials for the majority of Sports.

I encourage students to continue on the same vein as they have all year with regards to attendance, attitude and attire, and look forward to watching many of your games from the sidelines with pride and admiration for the efforts that you all put in. Go the Black and Blue!

HIGHLIGHTS

Knox Dog Policy - new policy for parents

To improve safety of the students and visitors to the school, we are moving to a No Dogs Allowed policy. It is unlawful for dogs (Companion Animal Act 1998), leashed or unleashed, to be on school grounds, unless they are assistance dogs, security patrol dogs or police dogs. » Read More

Dogs may no longer be brought onto any Knox Grammar School property, including the Prep and Senior School campuses and all playing fields, including Curagul and Gillespie Fields.

New signage will be installed over the coming weeks reflecting this change in policy. Our Security Team has been asked to let parents and carers know that we are moving to a dog free school.  If you bring a dog onto school property, you may be approached by the School’s Security Team and asked to leave.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this safety initiative.

Basketball

Winter Basketball
The end of term saw the conclusion of a very successful Winter Basketball season for all students involved. » Read More

Particular mention goes to Knox 3 who finished the season as premiers, defeating Free Throws 48 – 39 in the grand final. Jack Sigler played a stand out game with some impressive shooting beyond the arc while Will Bradley put his body on the line to ensure that Knox came away as victors.

Holiday Camps
The Knox Grammar 2015 Holiday Basketball Camp had over 50 participants competing throughout the three days. All camp participants went through instructive fundamental basketball drills and played competitive organized games. There was a strong turn out from our 2015/16 year 8 teams, which will highly benefit them going into the season.

Cricket

Pre-season Brisbane training camp
The second week of the school holidays saw 30 boys of all ages fly to Brisbane for an intensive training camp ahead of the first round of CAS fixtures against Barker. » Read More

The tour consisted of both 1st XI and Development squads, all attending with the  intention of improving their games while continuing the preparation for the season in the warm Queensland climate.

Both teams played Brisbane Grammar School on Monday 28th September, with the 1st XI registering a convincing win. Thanks to fine contributions from Hayden Todoroski, Matt Beatty, Harry Purcell and Sam Schofield with the bat. Matt Beatty started where he left off last season, bowling his left arm off spin with flight and guile.

The Development XI came up against a slightly older side, also made up Brisbane Grammar’s best players. They fought admirably and only lost by 20 runs in a low scoring game. Nic Gallu and Alex Zatz particularly impressive with the ball.

T20 matches were cut short by an epic Brisbane storm the next day, but luckily the weather did not hinder our chance to train at Brisbane Grammars superb facility on the Wednesday. Batting specific training coached by BGS’s Trevor Irvine was fun and educational. With our batters learning how to play spin, and hit sixes!

On the last day, the boys were lucky enough to train at the National Cricket Academy, arguably the best training facility in the country. Bowling machines in full flow, coupled with fielding and a tour. It was a great way to end a fantastic week.

Bring on the season!

MyCoach Cricket Camp
These holidays saw MyCoach cricket bring in this summers Cricket Master program with record participation! The 3 day camp which was run by specialist coaches across 4 disciplines, Batting, Bowling, Fielding and Speed & Agility was a huge success. The attitude of all the boys and girls was brilliant, and the fun had by everyone was what really made the camp work so well!

A huge amount of skill work done through the camp but it culminated with the T20 day on the last day of camp. Six Hitting competitions, matches all around Gillespie Fields and some of the best catching you could ever hope to see. A great way to prepare for the upcoming summer season.

Tennis
Ben Higgins, MIC Tennis

During the 2 week break saw Knox Tennis run a coaching clinic as well as FAST 4 TENNIS Tournament in the first week. The boys all trained hard and were all very competitive. » Read More

The standard of tennis was improving as the day progressed.

There was also a K-2 Mini Tennis Tournament. It was great to see the young boys being able to rally and play points with serving and returning so well. This has all has stemmed from the coaching the boys have had through the term being able to get to that standard. Well done to all the boys who showed great sportsmanship throughout the tournaments and played some fantastic tennis. Looking forward to the next one.
