Garden Day

Six of the North Shore’s finest private gardens will be open to the public for the School's annual Garden Day on Friday 7 September from 10am to 2pm at Burns Road, Wahroonga.

A section of the street between Grosvenor St and Wahroonga Ave will be closed to traffic for the event, which will feature  market stalls selling plants, fresh flowers, craft items, food, cakes and refreshments.

The park-like grounds of Mount Alverna, a 1891 homestead designed by renowned local architect Richard George Howard Joseland, will be among the homes open on the day. The 6,800 square metre estate features many of Wahroonga’s oldest and largest trees including Blue Gum, Chestnut and Cedar trees.

Visitors will be entertained by live music from Knox Grammar School including the school’s famous Pipe Band and small ensembles including string quartets.

Detailed information and booklets about the plants and landscaping of each garden will be available.
