(L to R) Kinto Wan, Vincent Chen, Bernard Chau and Sean Dawson
The Knox Open Chess Team (Bernard Chau, Yr10, Kinto Wan, Yr11, Vincent Chen, Yr8, Sean Dawson, Yr10, Dylan Mao, Yr9 and Nick Forster, Yr10) represented NSW as its premier chess school at the Australian Championships hosted by Knox over the weekend (Knox became NSW Open State Champions in August this year ahead of Sydney Grammar School and Sydney Boys High).
Around 200 chess players, parents and coaches from all states of Australia converged on the Great Hall which turned out to be the perfect chess playing and viewing venue. Everyone commented on our state of the art facilities and just had a great time here at Knox.
In the Open Competition, Knox (NSW) finished a close third behind Scotch College (VIC) and Brisbane Grammar(QLD). Well done Team!
Many thanks to our Headmaster, Mr John Weeks for supporting the event and to the many Knox staff for all their efforts in making it a memorable tournament for our guests.
