A team from Knox has won this year's RACI NSW Schools Titration Competition held at Barker College on 18 June.
The event is open to NSW students studying HSC chemistry. Students competed in teams of three and, in 90 minutes, had to complete a set of acid-base titrations to determine the unknown concentration of a weak acid.
The winning team of Knox Year 12 students; Jason Oh, Shawn Teo and David Loyzaga, said the key to their success was concentration.
They have now won automatic entry into the national competition.
A team from Hornsby Girls came second and a Barker team took out third place.
Knox entered four teams in the 23-team event. Year 12 chemistry teacher Greg Nunan said the team had worked hard in preparing for the event.
