Hearty congratulations are in order for Knox boys:
These boys have just received notification of reaching the conclusion of their GOLD DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD. They will be presented at Government House to the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO at a future date.
Just for those who may be unaware of the requirements, each boy needs to do:
12 months of at least one hour per week consistently in Volunteer Service
12 months of at least one hour per week consistently in Fitness
12 months of at least one hour per week consistently in a personal Skill
A five day away from home in a residential setting (sport tour, trek, etc).
Two Expeditions each of four days and three nights. Each day of at least eight hours. Treks of 80 to 120 km are not uncommon.
Basically a Minimum 12 months commitment usually following a six months commitment to a SILVER AWARD previously. This is a culmination of TWO Years effort.
