Knox 1sts teams achieve ‘clean sweep’

The 1sts Cricket, Tennis and Basketball teams from Knox have achieved a rare ‘clean sweep’ with the three teams winning the premiership in the Combined Associated Schools (CAS) Summer Sport Competition.

The summer sport season finished on Saturday with the final round against St Aloysius’ College.

“It’s been a fantastic summer sporting season with some terrific results and wonderful sportsmanship,” said Knox Sportsmaster David Cobb.

Many of the Knox teams have been supporting cancer research over the past few weeks by making a donation and wearing pink hats, shoelaces and zinc.

“Basketball at Knox has gone from strength to strength and is now our largest summer sport with more than 500 boys participating in the Senior School,” said David.

This is the first time Knox has won the CAS competition outright since 1979 and the first time ever a basketball team has won 10 from 10 rounds.

The students will now commence preparations for the winter sport season, which commences at the start of Term 2.
