Knox athletics team wins silver while Cameron McEntyre wins gold


A team of seven athletes from Knox has won silver at the National Schools Track and Field Knock-out Competition in Launceston, Tasmania.

The points-based competition involves events including sprints, 1,500m, shot put, high jump and long jump. The team of Knox boys from Years 9 to 12 broke four personal beats to finish second overall.

Nicholas Bate (Year 11) recorded the fastest time of the competition for the 100 metre sprint, with a time of 11.01 seconds.

Congratulations to the team of Timothy Abbott (Year 12), Nicholas Bate (Year 11), Declan Bryant (Year 12), Matthew Fisher (Year 10), Jack McArdle (Year 10),  William North (Year 10), and Carl Williams (Year 9).

Several Knox boys also competed at the Australian All Schools Championships in Hobart over the weekend. Cameron McEntyre (Year 8) won the javelin by more than 11m with a fourth round throw of 54.29m and came third in the discus. James Armstrong also competed in the javelin throw and came ninth.
