Knox representatives for the NSW All Schools Cross Country – boarders, Carl Williams and Myalls Paterson with Joshua Davies and Will North
Knox boarders, Carl Williams and Myalls Paterson, have now led the charge at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championship that took place on 22 July at Eastern Creek.
The NSW All Schools Cross Country is the pinnacle cross country event for school students with teams from the State, private, independent and Catholic school systems; all the runners will be vying for places in the NSW team to contest the National Championships!
At the qualification event, the NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS), Carl won the silver medal in the 14 years race while Myalls was 7th in the 18 years 8km event. Both boys are also very accomplished track runners having already competed at the national championships over 800m in their respective age groups.
Carl and Myalls were joined in the NSW CIS team by fellow Knox students Joshua Davies who was 7th in the 17 years division and Will North who was 4th in the same race as Carl.
Myalls, who is just a few months away from completing his HSC says, “The boarding environment is conducive to academic achievement, you’re in a better learning environment and everyone else there is focused on working as well, so it’s easier.”
“It’s also easier train! I have lots of running buddies and then there’s the gym and all the fantastic facilities which we have access to” he also said.
Knox teacher and Master in Charge of Cross Country, Ms Dale Thompson was also selected in the NSW CIS team as one of several team managers who looked after the 100-strong CIS team.
