Three records tumble at CAS Swimming


Students from Knox broke three records at the Combined Associated Schools (CAS) Swimming and Diving Champions at Homebush on Thursday evening and finished second overall in both swimming and diving.

Thirty-eight swimmers represented Knox at the meet, supported by a massive crowd of more than 650 Knox students and around 200 parents and staff.

Year 10 student Vincent Dai set an open record in the 50m freestyle of 23.94 seconds, an impressive feat for a 15 year old.

Paul Van Westing (Year 11) set a new record in the 17 years 50m butterfly of 25.69 seconds and the freestyle relay team of Leon MacAlister (Year 7), Ben Adams (Year 8), Kevin Zhang (Year 8) and Alexander Trobec (Year 8) also broke the record for the 13 years event with a time of 1 minute 52.47 seconds.

The overall winner of the points competition was Trinity Grammar (519 points), with Knox finishing second (497) followed by Barker (428).
