United Nations Evatt Trophy 2011

Kevin Kim and Robert Ferguson were chosen to compete at nationals in 2011 United Nations Evatt Trophy hosted at Hobart. The Evatt Trophy is a competition which tests debating and negotiation skills in a mock United Nations Security Council assembly. All delegates are given a specific country to represent and resolutions concerning international issues including, Nuclear non-proliferation and Censorship of Social Networking services are presented to us.

As delegates of the United Nations, it was their responsibility to amend and eventually take a stance; for, against or abstain the resolutions depending on our country’s views. Not only were strong debating skills vital but their ability to negotiate and socialise with other members was essential since negotiation is a key element in the United Nations assembly.

Kevin and Robert will continue conducting more research about international conflicts and relations to prepare ourselves for nationals at Hobart.
