'West Side Story' to be performed in the Great Hall


The Knox Grammar Great Hall will be transformed into the streets of New York’s Upper West Side for the school’s production of the Broadway musical West Side Story from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 May.

About the production

The production will boast a cast of 48 students from Knox and local girls’ schools Abbotsleigh, Ravenswood, Pymble Ladies College and Roseville College.

Music will be performed by a live orchestra, with the technical production managed by a crew of about 10 students. The production will be performed ‘in the round’ with an impressive lighting rig hung from the ceiling.

About West Side Story

West Side Story was first performed on Broadway in 1957. The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.
