Over the summer school holidays, 120 students from Knox volunteered their time keeping the community safe as surf life savers on the Northern Beaches.
Eighty boys from Knox passed their Surf Rescue Certificate and Bronze Medallion at the end of last year, while 14 boys from Year 12 are currently working to complete their Gold Medallion.
While the boys didn't undertake any major rescues, Year 8 boarder Dylan Farr was nominated and Year 9 student Will McDonagh was a finalist in the Junior Lifesaver of the Year Awards.
One of the youngest lifesavers from Knox, Dylan (from Walgett in north-west NSW) had only been to the beach a handful of times before commencing lifesaving with Knox at Manly LSC and Whale Beach SLSC.
