With cadet camp and holidays rapidly approaching I encourage students to read this week’s articles and find out what opportunities there are for them to take advantage of in the coming holiday period. Currently, many of our students are at the Australian Swimming Championships competing and doing well. This weekend our Sailors are competing in the state championships and I wish them all the best and hope the conditions are conducive to them achieving the results they seek.

It is also the senior schools first Cross Country Invitational as well as the Prep school IPSHA Cross Country and I wish all those involved good luck.
Our Year 7 Footballers are playing Sydney Boys High this Saturday and some of our Year 7 Rugby players are playing Rugby against St Joseph’s next Wednesday after school.

I would like everyone to note that the opportunity to exemption requests for winter sports has concluded and changes to sports choices will only be taken due to injury or illness for the coming winter season.

Parents please note that trials are continuing and teams will not be finalized until after week 1 of Term 2. I ask that you check with your sons and for them to continue to ask Coaches regarding their teams and positions in their chosen sports. Good luck, and go the Black and Blue.

Nick Frost

Well done to Year 11 student Nick Frost, who last week, won the U/17 Discus event at the NSW Little Athletics State Championships. Remarkably Nick has won this event five years in a row. Quite a feat indeed!

No Dogs Allowed Policy

To improve safety of the students and visitors to the school, we have a No Dogs Allowed policy. Dogs are prohibited, leashed or unleashed, on school grounds, unless they are assistance dogs, security patrol dogs or police dogs.

Dogs may not be brought onto any Knox Grammar School property, including the Prep and Senior School campuses and all playing fields, including Curagul and Gillespie Fields.

Signage has been installed and our Security Team has been asked to let parents and carers know that we are a dog-free school. If you bring a dog onto school property, you may be approached by the School's Security Team and asked to leave.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this safety initiative.

NSWCIS Swimming and Diving Championships
On Tuesday 22nd March, Knox swimmers representing IPSHA at the CIS Championships were amazing in the pool, qualifying through to the finals in the all the events they contested and recording personal best times.

Our divers, Ryan Manuel, Xander Mercer and Jacques Horbach were just as impressive in their springboard events with Ryan winning gold in the 8yrs, Xander silver in the 12/13yrs and Jacques bronze also in the 12/13yrs. These boys will now represent CIS at the NSWPSSA Championships in April.

Our Junior Relay (Henry Anderson, Jensen Arthur, John Lagunowich, Tyler Harris and Marcus Walsh) won bronze in the 4 x50m freestyle, with the Senior team (Benji Allen, Charlie Anderson, Travis, Will McDonagh and Alex Ruygrok,) reaching the finals placing second but unfortunately missing out on advancing through to the next level on a technicality. A great effort and good sportsmanship showed by all swimmers.

Benji Allen won silver in the final of the 11yrs 50m breaststroke; Angus Rowe silver in the 11yrs 50m backstroke; Henry Anderson bronze in the 8-10yrs 50m backstroke; and Will McDonagh silver in the 12/13yrs 50m freestyle and bronze in the 8-13yrs 100m freestyle.

Congratulations to all boys on their outstanding performances at CIS and all the best to our Junior relay, Benji, Angus, Henry, Will, Ryan, Xander and Jacques for NSWPSSA.
