I would like to thank all the students who have trained and put the effort in to compete for the school at the CAS Track and Field championships this Thursday.

I wish the team and the Coaches all the best and know that they will do Knox proud as always.

I would also like to congratulate all the students who competed for Knox at the national Snow Sports championships at Perisher. There is a report in this bulletin.

I was unable to attend the AFL function on Friday evening for the end of season but I am told by all involved that it was a great night and enjoyed by parents, students and supporters alike. Well done and congratulations to all involved.

As we head to the last event I would like to thank the year 12 students for their support, hard work and commitment to the Sports programme at Knox Grammar School. Their efforts have been appreciated and I know that whether they were competing in the 1sts or working hard towards individual goals they have been able to achieve the outcomes that they set for themselves and that they strived for. Congratulations, well done and good luck for the future

Basketball Holiday Camp - October

Mr Joey Britton, MIC AFL

On Friday night over 200 Knox AFL players and parents came together to celebrate another fantastic season.
We were joined by the current assistant coach of the Sydney Swans and Port Adelaide legend Josh Francou. It was an important occasion in which we recognised the continued growth of AFL at Knox and awarded players who had excelled.

Connor McFadden was awarded the prestigious Knox AFL champion player award for winning the Best and Fairest in the Firsts team.

My sincere thanks to all for their attendance and for their efforts in ensuring season 2016 was such a success.

Interschool Snow Sports National Titles 2016
This year’s Nationals were held at Perisher from Wednesday 7 September to Sunday 11 September. 18 Knox boys were successful in their efforts to be eligible to compete at this competition, which is the largest number of Knox representatives for many years.

The boys completed in the two categories of Snow Board and Skiing over the three main disciplines of Giant Slalom, Rider Cross and Moguls.

As you would expect at this level, the competition is fierce, but what is delightful to witness is the high level of sportsmanship displayed by competitors during the particular events and especially on the podiums at the conclusion of racing.

We are immensely proud of the endeavour displayed by our Knox boys, as they raced the clock in often difficult conditions, such as pouring rain, unseasonably high temperatures for this time of year and soft-wet snow. Not ideal race conditions, but as it’s an outdoor sport all competitors must deal with whatever the weather offers up.

The results from the National Championships are :

Snow Boarding
Mac Omm Bronze Medal Div 3 Snowboard GS
Division 1 Board GS team 7th Hamish MacDonald 17th overall.
Division 3 board cross team 6th Mac Omm 6th overall.

Division 1 Alpine Team 8th AJ Tauber 19th
Division 2 Alpine, Bodhi Phillips 21st overall
Division 4 Alpine Team 7th William Constable 15th overall
Division 3 Moguls Luke Bowers 8th overall
Division 4 Skier Cross 7th with Michael Salerno 12th overall

We are grateful to the school for the opportunity provided to us and a special thank you to all the parents who supported the students as manager, volunteers, on committees and as drivers to and from the snow.  It has been a great competition season and we look forward to 2017!!

No Dogs Allowed Policy

To improve safety of the students and visitors to the school, we have a No Dogs Allowed policy. Dogs are prohibited, leashed or unleashed, on school grounds, unless they are assistance dogs, security patrol dogs or police dogs.

Dogs may not be brought onto any Knox Grammar School property, including the Prep and Senior School campuses and all playing fields, including Curagul and Gillespie Fields.

Signage has been installed and our Security Team has been asked to let parents and carers know that we are a dog-free school. If you bring a dog onto school property, you may be approached by the School's Security Team and asked to leave.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this safety initiative.

It is school policy that we recommend all students wear mouthguards for training and games for AFL, Football and Rugby.

Coaches have been asked to check that students have them as training will be modified if they do not have them.
