Knox runners perform at IPSHA Cross Country

On Saturday our forty strong Cross Country team headed out to The Kings School with the aim of running their best and being selected in the IPSHA team to compete at the CIS Carnival in June either as an individual or in the team event. » Read More

Race conditions were perfect, sunny skies, no wind and a grassy track that wove its way through the grounds of the school, challenging each competitor with its hills. Our Knox boys were very competitive, with the majority of the boys finishing in the top half of the field in their respective races.

In the 9 years, Sean Williams won gold – 20 seconds in front of second place, Marcus Walsh 5th and Toby Caspari 9th; 10 years, Ryan Khattar finished 8th and in the 11 years William Constable placed 6th with Spencer Selikowitz 15th. Sam Rockliff dominated the 12 years race from the start, powering through the finish line 40 seconds in front of the next runner and winning gold!

As a result of good team running, Knox were Champions in the 9 years, thus qualifying Henry Anderson through to CIS as well.

Congratulations to all Knox Cross Country runners on your outstanding effort, great sportsmanship and team spirit.

Congratulations to Oli Roe, Harrison Parker, Alex McConnell and James Bennett who were part of an inaugural AFL Independent Schools All-Stars team that claimed victory in their match against the travelling New Zealand Under 16s side last week. » Read More

In challenging conditions, the boys proved the more skilful against the physical tourists, and despite being challenged in the third quarter, they ran away 32 point winners.

Final Score: AFL Independent Schools 6.13-49 def. New Zealand 2.5-17

The match was a magnificent spectacle with the NZ side’s haka a highlight.

Reports are that the students were a pleasure to manage and coach, and conducted themselves very well integrating with their opposition at the after-match presentation function.

A special thank you to St Ignatius, Riverview who hosted training, the match and the after-match function.
