To highlight this, our assembly this week was a celebration of culture; a celebration of the many cultures and languages that both our staff and students are connected to.
It began with the traditional Welcome to Country. Then, in a short interview with the School Captain, Mr Fitisemanu (English Department) shared how his Samoan culture is important to him and how he keeps his culture alive through its traditions. A video created by our tech crew was also shown, where many other staff spoke of the importance of language and culture in their lives.
Culture was also celebrated through music as we were first treated to a beautiful African piece from Voice Male (our Tenor-Bass choir), before being inspired by the beats of traditional Indian drumming, thanks to Harman Sunner (Y11). Adding to the music and colour, many staff also wore traditional clothing from their own heritage.
