On Saturday 20 September, we hosted the Knox-Barker Model United Nations (MUN) Conference.

The Weeks’ Senior Academy at the Senior School campus was a hive of activity across the whole day, with students from over 20 schools.
The students actively led and participated in various debates covering topics of Artificial Intelligence, Nuclear Waste Management, Humanitarian Aid and Unlawful Detentions.
“It is rare that Model United Nations can mimic the real UN,” said Rainier (Year 11). “However, with over 250 delegates, this event made it happen. Working alongside over 30 polished convenors as the Secretary General allowed me to realise that the only thing separating a three-year-old dream and reality was the hard work."
"My highlight from the event was seeing delegates grow more confident and articulate in debate while engaging with complex global issues,” said Harry (Year 10). “I think this speaks to the heart of why Model United Nations is so important, as it equips students with the skills of diplomacy, collaboration, and critical thinking. These skills are essential for addressing challenges of the real world, in an ever-shifting global environment."
Thank you to Rainier and Harry who helped with making this conference a smooth and successful event.
