Motivation and resilience: notes from an Olympian inspire Years 7-9 students
Students in the Junior and Middle Academies welcomed Winter Olympian and World Cup Biathlete Alex Almoukov to their Academy Assembly as part of the Olympics Unleashed program.
Knox Grammar School
Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting and Alex has represented Australia on the Olympic stage in 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi.
The boys heard from Alex about his Olympics origin story and the elements that led to his success.
Our Junior and Middle Academy students were pleased to have the chance to meet an Olympian.
The candid athlete described his self-confessed “lazy” teen years, and the wake-up call that helped him dig deep to find the motivation that helped forge his pathway to become an elite sportsman.
He said self-discipline, work ethic, perseverance and resilience, and coping with pressure were his main tips for success.
Thank you to Alex and to the Olympics Unleashed for visiting us and inspiring our students.
