Through this innovative project, the KG1 Building has been transformed into a contemporary learning and social environment for the boys.
This new home for boys in Years 9 and 10 has a focus on building the global competencies of 'creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, character and citizenship' within each boy.
“Preparing our students to succeed in an era of global uncertainty requires development of intellect, learning practical capabilities and mastery of the global competencies,” said Headmaster Scott James.
“With our new academy, we have been provided with facilities to foster innovation, creativity and communication,” said the Head of Middle Academy, Ms Elizabeth Ruff.
“It’s a truly unique space,” said Ms Ruff. “The students were closely consulted in the design process and the result is that we have a great diversity of spaces for the boys to learn and socialise.”
“With the opening of the Academy of Global Competency, we have completed our vision of providing an academy for each stage at the Senior School,” said Headmaster Scott James.
Students attending the Senior School now transition through the Roach Junior Academy (Years 7-8), the Academy of Global Competency (Years 9-10) and the Weeks Senior Academy (Years 11-12). Each academy has a specific focus and design based on the age and development needs of the students.
