Last week, our Year 5 Prep students took a break from campus and headed to CRU Camp at Lake Macquarie. Enjoying four days and three nights of camping, the students received some special guests on the last day with their dads joining the fun.

The boys bonded through activities including sailing, rock climbing, kayaking, archery, raft building, hiking, and chatting around the campfire.
Here, we hear from the students themselves, as they reflect on their experience:
When did you feel happiest at the camp?
“Sailing was my favourite memory. I had my friends and teacher with me, the wind was blowing my face, and the waves were splashing all over us. We went so fast, and we were smiling and laughing the whole time!”
What was a challenge during the camp, and what did you learn?
“Cooking outside at the campsite was a challenge, and I learnt that the weather doesn’t affect our enthusiasm.”
What was your favourite activity with your dad?
“Rock climbing was the best, I beat my dad to the top!”
“I loved canoeing and racing my friends and their dad.”
We also asked the parents about the experience, and here’s an excerpt of what they shared:
“I loved the chance to spend time with my son and all his mates.”
“I can’t believe how much my son has changed in just two days, what a great experience!”
“It was a great opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with my son and have fun doing so many different outdoor activities.”

“We were motivated to invent a tool that would help the community and society, by making an application not just for us students,” said Daniel (Year 11). “From what I’ve observed, our Student Administration Officer takes a lot of phone calls about student absence, and she could have more time to be focused on more meaningful tasks.”
