CENTENARY STORIES

Behind the student mural in the Amphitheatre

The Local Flora Mural is the first permanent public display of student work at the School. The purpose of the mural was to teach students how to create public art, to enhance the area around the Amphitheatre, to create cultural awareness of Indigenous use of plants and to connect the boys to their local environment.

This mural is a collaboration between the Heritage Centre and the Visual Arts and Social Justice departments. Artist Ms Eve Bracewell was selected to create the overall design and to teach students about digital art and murals. Eve painted her design on the entrance to the Reid walkway.

The students used this as inspiration for their own work which was completed on the pillars leading towards the Cultural Centre. Signs introduce students to the names of the plants featured and their Indigenous uses.
