He served on the Old Knox Grammarians' Association Committee from 1930 to 1936 and again from 1946 to 1951. In May 1946, Colin was appointed as the OKGA representative to School Council. In 1952, he became a Councillor in his own right and served until his death in 1963.
In 1963, the OKGA planted trees on either side of the William McIlrath War Memorial Chapel and embedded a plaque in the top step of the entrance in memory of Colin.
