George Allen Dougall (OKG31)

Knox's #19 Student 1924

George, known as Allen*, was the 19th enrolled student at Knox.

It appears that he may have attended the School for a short time in 1924 before moving to Barker College then continuing his education at Riverview from 1926 to 1934. In his final year at Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview, he was College Captain, Head Prefect of Sodality, Captain of the Senior Athletics Team, Captain of Boats and Captain of 1st XV.

After school, studied an Economics degree and became a stock broker clerk at Permanent Trustee Co, Sydney. He enlisted in the Militia in 1941 then joined the Royal Australian Air Force and was missing in action presumed dead after an air operation in 1942, aged 26.

* NB: Records show his middle name has been variously spelled ‘Alan’, ‘Allen’ and ‘Allan’. The most common spelling is ‘Allen’ as featured in the Knox Enrolment Register and Military Attestation papers.
